I’m hosting a giveaway!

This giveaway is closed.
Today I have the awesome privilege of hosting a giveaway for Julie at The Intrepid Thread!  The Intrepid Thread is my go-to on-line store for modern fabrics.  Julie brings in many beautiful lines – too many I would say, as I swoon over them and have to use all my willpower not to buy!
Julie’s service is delightfully speedy, she is always pleasant and goes out of her way to make sure she is giving you exactly what you want.  Her prices are great (and I’m the original miser), and she has lots of special code days with 15 or 20 % off.
And on top of that Julie has a giveaway every Friday!
This fat quarter bundle of Cosmos by Dan Bennett is my most recent purchase from The Intrepid Thread.  I loved this line the moment I saw it - only I foolishly waited a bit too long to place my order so my bundle is missing two of the fat quarters…
cosmos
I only ordered this yesterday, so it isn’t here yet for me to play with… I can’t wait to see it in person and decide what to do with it!
This week Julie is giving away a Joy Charm Pack and a half yard each of Betty's Teal and Betty's Red which match it nicely.
giveaway
You have two ways to enter the draw.
1. Go over to The Intrepid Thread, browse around, and then come back and leave me a comment telling me which line of fabric makes your heart go pitter-patter.
2. Leave me a second comment with a suggestion of what I should make with my Cosmos fat quarter bundle.
The giveaway will close at noon Pacific Standard Time on Friday, March 2012.  I will draw the winner that evening.  Edit – oh my, I forgot to put in the date – and I’m still back in March!  Friday April 13th: is it your lucky day?
Oh this is so exciting!
Janet

  1. I visited the Intrepid Thread and I can see myself using Poetica. Lots of nice colors.

  2. Boy, when I look at Cosmos all I see are little cells dividing and amoebas. Not sure where that fabric is going. I think kids would like it.

    ReplyDelete
  3. How lovely and thank you ... as a birdie lover I think 'Flock' has got to be my choice.... lovely shapes and colours.....

    ReplyDelete
  4. Those are lovely lovely fabrics you got.... my suggestion would be making a quilt... with fairly big blocks (and maybe some plains) so that it shows off those pretty fabrics...

maybe I should change my fabric choice to Cosmos??

    ReplyDelete
  7. Oh, I've been drooling over the Cosmos line for a while. I've been good so far and not bought any.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I think the Cosmos line would look absolutely fantastic as some sort of bag or tote. Maybe one to haul around projects?

    ReplyDelete
  9. It's hard to decide - but I think the Power Pop line is my favourite. Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  10. too many fabrics to name one, All I could imagine was fussy cutting little critters and cars into hexagon flowers! Oh no...

    ReplyDelete
  11. I like the "Apple of My Eye" from the Intrepid Thread. Thanks for the opportunity to win your giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The Cosmos collection would make a gorgeous quilt possibly half square triangles with some solids.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I couldn't decide between "Art Gallery Elements" and "Impressions".

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm kind of digging Summerlove - Beyond Bliss in Ginger. I could see it in a top.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Supersized hexies. Into a quilt. That's what you should do with the cosmos.

    ReplyDelete
  16. That line would look good any way you make it Janet.. I've been thinking about zig zags lately.. Happy Deciding! Thanks for the chance to win, and thanks to Intrepid Thread. :o)

    ReplyDelete
  18. i like your cosmos choice, and can see a circles [bubbles] quilt there.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I love Cocoon. Hopefully it will still be around once I've saved up a couple, three weeks of fabric allowance so I can get a bundle of it.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Cosmos is lovely. Since I usually make quilts out of everything I suggest you make a quilt! :D

    ReplyDelete
  21. Julie always does a great job & she is very, very generous with her give aways. I've been eye balling Cosmos ever since she introduced it. Can't wait to see what you make with it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. LOVE the Flying Free collection - perfect for some totes for my girls!
    ourbusylittlebunch(at)hotmail(dot)com

  23. The Cosmos prints would look great in a strip quilt!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thanks for two chances to win this great giveawy Janet.

I love the "Sunny Happy Skies" collection as it would make gorgeous modern baby and kids quilts.

    shel704 at aol dot com

    ReplyDelete
  27. How about making a picnic quilt with your bundle!
    Summer is on the way!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I need more fabric like I need a hole in my head but that "Art Gallery Elements" looks like it would go with plenty of other un-related fabric and look beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Now, as to what you should make....I think something with large pieces so you don't have to cut it up too much, maybe a star pattern. I think when you have a machine, there are lots of possibilities. One of my friends made a quilt where you stack up all the fabrics and cut the pile a number of times and then take a piece from each fabric to make different blocks. I know if I had a machine I would love to try that with coordinated fabrics.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh I love COSMOS too in the turquoise and purple colorway!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Good morning....thank you for another wonderful giveaway!!
I love Summer Love; but would really like to have this Cosmos line....

    ReplyDelete
  32. I have been on Intrepid Thread...and in fact, I've been doing some "shopping" on there. Poetica is my FAVORITE! I ordered the bundle plus package of both from Julie. WOW, it literally got here the next day!!! Julie packaged it so nicely, all wrapped up with a nice handwritten card. Of course last night I couldn't sleep, so I was on line shopping again, adding some Elements solids to go with my Poetica. Can't wait to start putting it all together. :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I bet you are having a hard time figuring out what to do with that gorgeous fabric. It would be hard for me to cut it up. I think i would do something simple like a brick path so that the patterns stay somewhat in tact. Please post what you make!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I love the new Peak Hour collection from the Intrepid Thread shop, thanks for the chance!

    ReplyDelete
  35. oh my, I love so much of it. I really love the Cocoon that is coming soon, and the Fruit Slice collection looks so stinkin' cute. Thanks!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm still in love with Sunny Happy Skies, especially the flowered prints. Julie has some over at The Intrepid Thread. Would love to make a tablerunner out of Joy - thanks to you both for the chance to win some.

    ReplyDelete
  38. A quilt of course! Cosmos would make a gorgeous quilt - something with big blocks that would show off those awesome prints! Have fun....

    ReplyDelete
  39. Janet, the Cosmos fabric is gorgeous! I was so tempted for that too. I might just have to get it. I think you have to make something that will do this fabric justice and show it off with larger piecing. How about "Show Me Your Fat Quarter and I'll Show you Mine" pattern that Julie sells on the Intrepid Thread?

    ReplyDelete
  40. I just adore "Sunny Happy Skies" It has pandas, which I love!!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. There are so many beautiful fabric lines to choose from. But my favorite is Vintage Modern. Great colors. Thanks for such a great giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think the Cosmos fabric would look great made up using the Yellow Brick Road pattern. It shows off all the pretty fabrics. Enjoy your new bundle.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  56. My current favorites in Julie's shop are Fruit Slice and Quilt Blocks (which isn't even in yet).

    ReplyDelete
  57. You're asking me to choose? So many make my heart go pitter patter. I am liking the Art Gallery Elements the most today! Thank you for a chance to win. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  58. I suggest Swoon blocks from your Cosmos FQ.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I am loving poetica right now. thanks and I enjoyed your blog!

    ReplyDelete
  60. That's is tough with Cosmos. I wouldn't dare to suggest anything to another person because we all have likes and dislikes.

As for me, the first thing that comes to my mind is jellyfishes, sea turtles and the beach. Don't ask me why! Maybe it's because summertime and the beach is on my mind! LOL. :-) Gotta confess that it would be one weird looking quilt and a huge challenge if I decided to try to implement this thought into a quilt. :-0 LOL. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  61. I think the Cosmos would be great in a granny square or swoon pattern quilt! thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Hello Pilgrim Leaves and Berries call out to me to make a table runner with a large center rectangle and use some of the simpler leaves fabric for an outer border. I think I'm heading back over to the shop!

    ReplyDelete
  63. The Cosmos fabrics are lovely! Not sure what I'd suggest - maybe a Twister quilt?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Fruit Slice is at the top of my list at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Your Cosmo fabric looks to me like it should become a quilt.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I'm a big fan of Riley Blake, so one of his current lines, Woodlands Tails, is one of my faves.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I love the colors in the Flying Free fabrics, and those dandelions make me feel like a child in summer

    ReplyDelete
  69. Those Cosmos fabrics would make a nice Retro Flower quilt.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I love everything in Julie's shop, LOL! Pezzy Prints are next on my list!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I think the Cosmos prints would make an amazing Swoon quilt paired with a creamy neutral (Kona Ash or a quilter's linen, maybe?)

    ReplyDelete
  72. I think the Cosmos FQ bundle would make a great quilt using a pattern with bigger blocks that would show off the beautiful big prints in the bundle.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Hello Pilgrim is my favorite, but I really want the Maya bundle!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Intrepid Thread has so many choices, but I'd pick Vintage Modern by Bonnie & Camille. Thanks for the great giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Summerlove is my new favorite but for my grandson I have to keep Thomas the Train as my favorite for him.

Thank you for this wonderful chance

    I just love Cosmos.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  78. Intrepid Thread is a great store & blog. I love Fruit Slice - the colors and patterns are so summery. Thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  79. I think whatever you make with Cosmos should be something that features larger blocks so that you can see the unique designs, vs. piecing tiny blocks and chopping the fabric up. Looking forward to spending time on your blog. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  80. I'm in love with A Walk in the Woods and Fly a Kite....also love Julie's blog and fabrics. I'm actually working on a tutorial for her newsletter!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  82. Visited the Intrepid Thread and would choose Vintage Modern...love anything by Bonnie and Camille. Thanks for the chance!
    ~Terry~

    ReplyDelete
  83. My favortie over at Julie's is Poetica followed by Hello Pilgrim. Love the bundles she puts together.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I think they would look fantastic in a Swoon Quilt or in a mini swoon Ipad or Kindle cover.
Thanks for the chance to win!. I am now following your blog thanks to Julie.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I agree the blocks should be big. I have a thing for snowball blocks, maybe with 4 different colored solids making up the 4 corner pieces so the quilt will be really bright and colorful.

    ReplyDelete
  86. What to make with your Cosmos FQ bundle?...perhaps a quilt with large snowball blocks to show off those great prints.
    ~Terry~

    ReplyDelete
  87. I have wanted to make a Christmas tree skirt-this would be really cute for that.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I love all of intrepid's bundles, they are so drooly!! I love anything that has blues in it, and actually around new years she made one with orange (which I usually don't like) but it was orange and grey, I really liked that bundle!
I see you changed your banner picture

    ReplyDelete
  89. there are so many cute FQ patterns.... hmm
what about this circle in a star pattern I made a tutorial on my blog, I used 12 FQs I think, but you can resize it

    ReplyDelete
  94. Love Cabana Blooms at Intrepid Threads. Thanks for the giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  95. The Cosmos fabric you have is almost too pretty to cut. I might try a D9P quilt, using the prints in the four outside corners, a soft yellow orange as the center square, & a cream/white as the other 4 middle squares. Thanks for the great giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I really like Flock! Thanks for the chance to win! :)

    ReplyDelete
  97. I think your Cosmos bundle would look great in rectangle squared blocks or the Stained QAL pattern. :)

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  101. I think that Cosmos collection would make a beautiful quilt. Love the colors.
    Thanks for the chance.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I think since circles seem to dominate, why not make a quilt of large circles of these fabrics, machine appliqued on. And maybe intersperse with solid circles of coordinating colors, or maybe use solid colored squares. Just a thought. Thanks for the giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I really like Poetica. Of course, that's today. Tomorrow I'll spot something else I'm sure.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I always hold on to my most cherished fabrics until the perfect project jumps out at me! Not sure what I would do with Cosmos.

    ReplyDelete
  109. what to do with the cosmos - find a pattern that works with both big blocks and small blocks, I would even throw in various squares, rectangles, and a couple of circles - I guess I would have to sit down and draw up my own pattern for it because nothing comes to mind that I have seen...

    ReplyDelete
  110. Lots of great fabric! Looking forward to Apple of my Eye!!

    ReplyDelete
  116. I would likely make a lap quilt but once until you have it in your hands you never now.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Thanks for this giveaway. The Intrepid Thread is one of my favorites. I think, instead of picking a print line, I would pick Art Gallery solids or Bella solids, because I never really stock up on solids and I should.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I think Julie chooses the most wonderful fabric lines! My current favorite is Flock.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I'm all about scrappy lap quilts so that is what I would do with Cosmos. A pattern with big enough pieces to feature this lovely and unique fabric.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Woodland Trail makes my heart go pitter pat.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I would do some pillow cases and a quilt for my living room and I think you could do the same!

    ReplyDelete
  122. A Walk in the Woods is one that I find truly awesome. It makes up in such cute projects.

    ReplyDelete
  123. My suggestion would be a new purse/bag. They would be so begirt and summery.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I so want the Fruit Slice fabrics! Those would be the ones I'd go for...will go for...

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  126. I'm into quilts alot lately so that'd be what I sugguest, but thats just me. THanks for the giveaway

    ReplyDelete
  127. I love the Cosmos fabrics! I don't think I could bear to cut them into tiny shapes because all those wonderful circle shapes would be broken up, so I'd use the fabric to make pillowcases.

    ReplyDelete
  128. It has to be cocoon that makes the heart jump! All those flutterbys!lovely.

    ReplyDelete
  129. What to make with your cosmos though- I saw a stunning quilt from large HSTs, with white, arranged to make concentric diamonds. Now that would be stunning. Sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Have been loving Poetica since it came out...maybe that's a sign?

    ReplyDelete
  134. For the cosmos... I would just make a nice scrappy, yet coordinated (because of the line of fabric) quilt. Take a nice solid that matches and make a granny square quilt. I find them simple yet fascinating :) especially with this bundle would be nice. BTW, following you now :)

    ReplyDelete
  135. It wouldn't use very many of your fat quarters, but I think the Cosmos fabrics would make a great summer tote/purse? Then I guess you'd have enough left for a small quilt?

    ReplyDelete
  136. I very attracted to the Maya collection at Intrepid Threads. Esp, the large flower print!

    ReplyDelete
  137. There is a diamond pattern in the May/June issue of McCalls Quilting - P.S. I Love You - the concept of the designers would look good in these large scale prints. A circular quilting motif with the diamonds would be interesting.

  138. I am so excited about Lu Summers first collection Summersville, simple and beautiful and will be great for so many projects (if I dare cut into them!) - thanks for hosting a great giveaway

    ReplyDelete
  139. Have you seen the Fit FOr a Princess Quilt from Katy at Sew, Mama, Sew? Would really show off the patterns in the fabric.

    ReplyDelete
  140. The Cosmos bundle would be gorgeous for so many things...not sure how warm your summer will be but I could see this as a gorgeous patchwork skirt for a young girl. But if you're anything like me you might just keep it for a while to look at!

    ReplyDelete
  141. I must admit cosmo is great with cabana bloom running close! I envision stars with Cosmo

    ReplyDelete
  154. Did you see what Julie did with her Cosmos? check out her blog post of Feb 22nd. I'm thinking something organic and flowing lines. also, I have a pinterest board with quilts if you want to look at it, it is:http://pinterest.com/helenlebrett/quilts/
    good luck on your decision!!

    ReplyDelete
  155. As for your Cosmos beauties, something that shows off the prints! Maybe a Bento Box quilt? Or some zippered pouches or bags!

    ReplyDelete
  156. It might be easier to list the fabrics that DON'T make my heart go pitter patter! LOL! I am really liking the VERONA line right now. :)

    ReplyDelete
  157. How about using your pretty new fabric for a SWOON quilt??

    ReplyDelete
  158. So many choices! I really like the Fruit Slice - Fat Quarter Bundle Entire Collection by Khristian A. Howell.
Do you want to know my 2nd choice? third? etc.

    ReplyDelete
  159. What a bright & colorful collection...It reminds me of a New York Beauty Quilt Block. But, the fabric would make fabulous place mats, or table runner or a cool purse.

    ReplyDelete
  160. A larger quilt w old be nice, maybe those new zigzag ones! Great colors indeed!

    ReplyDelete
  161. Peak hour for kids is the line I like...She has a great shop!

    ReplyDelete
  162. Bella is my new fav! Luv it!

    ReplyDelete
  163. I've sort of been stuck on table runners lately, but I don't know how Cosmos goes with your decor. That idea might not work. A have recently discovered a new enthusiasum for traditional quilt blocks made with modern fabrics. They seem to play nicely together. Twelve 12.5" blocks and 2 or 3 borders would make a nice lap quilt.

I sooooo envy you where you live!!!

    ReplyDelete
  164. I totally understand you saying you foolishly waiting to order and then having two FQ's missing. I just did the very same thing myself a few days ago although my order just arrived today. She's awesome though and was great. She let me choose what I wanted to replace those two and I think she actually gave me more on top of those two I chose. Can't get much better service than that.

I want a number of things she has in her shop but first at the top of my list is the one I have wanted for a few months now. It was the last one of three at the top of my wish list so choosing what I'd buy over in her shop is easy.
She's got a gorgeous bundle called "From Lilac to Grape A Purple Half Yard Bundle". Yep. That is next on my list to order unless she lists something else that screams to me first I suppose. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  165. The butterflies in cocoon are so cute. I also like the Happiness prints. Great colors and fun prints.

    ReplyDelete
  166. What you should make with your Cosmos?
I think that would be awesome to use in one of Amanda Murphy's quilt patterns.

  167. I love the Cosmos too. I think you should do something that has some large areas to show off the prints a bit. Either squares or rectangles would be nice.

  173. The Cosmos fabrics are beautiful. They almost have an oriental feel to them. I'd envision a nice tote bag and and a few things to spiff up the sewing room... like a machine cover, trim on some simple curtains, roman blinds, ironing board cover etc. How sweet that would be!! Be blessed, Kathy
