Well my sewing started on Thursday night so I was keeping company with the Aussie participants. And then it ended this morning…. – keeping company only with myself…
I put second rounds on two more hexie flowers. These ones are busy and bright! I photographed them on the grass to try and give an impression of what they will look like when they have the green hexie pathways in between. But I don’t think it really gives the idea.
I have learnt that it is tricky using directional fabric on second round hexies. I cut and basted the yellow hexies a couple of months ago, then couldn’t quite figure out how to make them look good as a second round. In the end I think this way works. The inner flower kind of looks like a big star floating in the galaxy. Okay… I have a good imagination.
I hope you had a great FNWF. Check everyone’s progress out here.

Great idea to join us on your Thursday. I often sew with you on our Saturday ...
ReplyDeleteLove your hexies photographed on the lawn... Both second rounds look great and the blue one does look like it's floating in the yellow galaxy.. Well done.
Love both your hexie flowers Janet - great idea to take the photo outside!
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty flowers in your grass.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful hexie flowers, Janet!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing the effects fabric can give. The Hexie on the right looks bigger
ReplyDeletegorgeous flowers.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fussy cut hexie - but I agree the one on the left looks like its floating..and a different twist to having the lines go straight out...love it!
ReplyDeleteI love your header photo-it makes me want to set out for a long hike with my dogs. Great hexies and you did such a nice job centering the design on each one on the right hexie. It's always fun to see how unique hexies can be due to different colors/fabrics. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteDirectional fabrics are like directional glass...if your making something in stained-glass...nothing looks worse than things going all over the place! I found that out looking proudly, then sadly at one of my first pieces. LOL I think these hexies look WONDERFUL!
