Photo an hour for Monday August 20th

This was a holiday in the Yukon – Discovery Day.  Yay for long weekends.  DH and I were part of an alternative school years ago and traditionally on this weekend those of us who are still in the Yukon try and have a get together.  Not many of us here this year.  One man from Alaska and his son, another couple from Whitehorse and two of their daughters, and of course DD # 1 and her partner and children, and their friend from Vancouver.

The house was full in the morning and I needed a bit of alone time.  My camera was downstairs so there were no pictures for 9 a.m. or 10 a.m.  Suffice to say I was looking at blogs and answering e-mails Smile

11 a.m.  Breakfast of pancakes and maple syrup, the most delicious smoked salmon and watermelon.  Look at DGD’s neon green nail polish, courtesy of Janelle from Vancouver.

1 p.m.  At the campground, enjoying the sunny weather and singing along with some mandolin.

2 p.m.  Guess where we’re going…

3 p.m.  Still swimming.  I thought the pool was only open until 4 p.m. but it turned out that it was open until 5.  We had a heck of a time tearing the kids out of the pool.

4 p.m.  Would you believe I forgot to take a photo.  About this time we finally got the kids out of the pool and we were chomping on ice cream cones.

5 p.m.  Hanging out with my friend in her camper while she does some dinner prep.

6 p.m.  Dinner’s up: trout, smokies, roast potatoes and salad.  Very yummy.

7 p.m. Headed downtown to check the mail, but there wasn’t any.  Oh yeah it’s a holiday.  Love the new decor on this building downtown.  It’s a coffee shop with very good food and drinks and lots of great art for sale.

8 p.m.  In bed already, doing a little crossword before I go to sleep.  It’s been a long weekend and I’m tired tonight.

  1. what a lovely busy time you have had.... I have just read a book (novel) and part of it was based at the Yukon.... the time of the Klondike gold rush.... was such fun thinking "I know someone who lives there....."

  5. Sounds like you all had fun. Still too cold here for swimming and ice creams but it is winter (even if today reached 20*C - a bit cooler than the past few days)
