I got a good start on the vehicle quilt for my grandson last night. Figured out the layout and sewed the block strips together.
Can you spot my mistake? Probably not because the picture is too small. I sewed this block in upside down.
But I caught it before I sewed on the long sashing so I fixed it….
Right side up now. I finished sewing the long sashing strips this morning. I was going to put the panel on the top and bottom, but now I’m second guessing myself, due to DH’s comment that “there is a lot going on” when he looked at the blocks.
Does anyone have any thoughts? Here’s another pic. I would put a strip of 5 to 6 inches of blue on the sides of the vehicle blocks, then a panel strip at the top and bottom of the quilt. It makes it a good size for a twin bed quilt and I like it, but I’d love your opinion.

What a perfect little boy quilt... there is a lot going on but I thought that is the idea in a way... lots to look at and find.... I like it with the sashing...

It has a lot going on in a really terrific way. It's great! It's full of interest and finds, and the blue sashing provides the touch of "rest" needed. Kids love lots going on.
ReplyDeleteI think I would put the panel top and bottom.
ReplyDeleteI would go with the panel. What little boy wouldn't love it.
ReplyDeleteOh please - panel top and bottom would be lovely - he is going to love it! I would and I am grandma age!
ReplyDeleteI would only put the panel on the top, then a solid on the bottom to give your eyes somewhere to rest. It really is cute!
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the border top and bottom. The sashing really sets it off.
Well done!!
Wow, this is turning out so great! I like a panel top and bottom too. Didn't you know those were trick pilots and they were flying up-side-down? My uncle did that kind of flying, lazy eights and barrel rolls. Did you ever find that vehicle your grandson loves to ride?
ReplyDeleteI love the panel on top of the Vehicle Quilt you are aking for your grandson.
ReplyDeleteI think there is a lot going on, but that's what kids like, so I would add the panel strips top and bottom.
ReplyDeleteI think it's perfect - and sure to be loved!
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt, your grandson will have so much fun looking at all that is going on, I say got ith your plan it will be great!
ReplyDeleteThis is a REALLY cute quilt. It gives me inspiration for a quilt for one of my grandboys!
