For a while I've been meaning to show an update of my Grandmother's Flower Garden, but I've had a row to attach and I kept waiting to get that complete.  Well, I finally finished it at our Craft Club get-together this morning.  So, ta-da!!  Here is my progress to date.

I have enough flowers for this many rows again, but I may make it another flower wider.  I haven't decided what I am going to do with the edges yet.  Karen at Faeries and Fibres has a tutorial for adding a border for a hexie quilt.  And somewhere I have seen a tutorial for finishing the edges without a border, but I can't remember where.  I am getting ahead of myself, because I still have lots of stitching to do before I get there.  But I do have a bunch of flowers already put together so I am just working on adding the green pathway now and it won't take forever (I hope!!).

Hubby and I attended the annual pumpkin carving party at my friend Donna's on Friday night.  Here are our funky and fun jack-o-lanterns.

Hubby's is Alfred E. Newman.  Mine is just a flower.  I won first prize - I've never won before - and got a cute little carving set as my prize,  I'm all set for next year's contest!!

I hope you had a wonderful Halloween, with lots of fun costumes and decorations and not too much candy!  Since NO kids came to our house, we have a box of chocolate bars that I am sure we'll be eating ourselves.. :(

  1. Wow your garden is looking so beautiful.great pumpkin carvings.
Halloween is starting to become quite popular here and the supermarkets were selling lots of pumpkins to carve. We haven't indulged as yet.

  2. I'm drooling over your hexagon quilt. It is gorgeous. I really love the green path because it looks like a garden path. Also I note that you've made a pieced hexagon - aren't they fun and don't they add sparkle? Keep on sewing because it is going to be a beauty.

As to the pumpkins, both are inspired and I would be hard-pressed to pick a favourite! If you need help with the chocolates just let me know!

  3. Loving that quilt. I finished off my hexie quilt by sewing a border of hexies right sides facing to the front and then turning them out and stitching down to the back.

  6. Fun Jack-o-lanterns. :) My green-lover would ADORE this hexie quilt! It's so cheery with the flower colors you're using. I happened to have my Hexies Pinterest board open - is this the finishing tutorial you were thinking of? I want to do this approach some day. http://badskirt.blogspot.com/2010/05/tutorial-finishing-you-hexie-quilts.html
